Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification GGG-W-660.
This commercial item description covers a 3/4-inch square drive socket wrench set intended for use with power impact or driving tools.
Salient characteristics:
The wrench set shall consist of the following items:
Sockets. 3/4-inch square drive; regular length; one each of the following sizes: 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8, 15/16, 1, 1-1/16, 1-1/8, 1-1/4, 1-5/16, 1-7/16, and 1-1/2 inch. The sockets shall conform to ANSI B 107.2.
Extensions. 3/4 inch square drive; one each 6-7 inch and one each 12-13 inch. The driving and drive ends of the extensions shall conform to ANSI B107.4. Finish shall be black oxide or equivalent coating.
Lock rings and pins for each female end.
Material case. Steel; substantial construction; enamel or similar finish; drawbolt or similar latching device; handle(s) provided.
Workmanship. The components of the wrench set shall be free of rust, fins, burrs, or other imperfections which may affect appearance, usability, or durability.
Industry standard. The issue of ANSI B 107.2 and B107.4, in effect on the date of the solicitation, shall be used to determine compliance with stated requirements.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing and marking. The wrench set shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed to assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with the National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
